| Manitou Springs Cliff House
The monumental Manitou Springs Cliff House Inn fire is depicted in this original oil painting by Sharon Dahlen.
Ms. Dahlen, of the Cherokee Gallery of Manitou Springs, created the piece of art, and has donated it to be used as a fund raiser for the Manitou Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Prints are now available, and the proceeds will aid the MSVFD in acquiring up-to-date equipment and training.
The fire of March 25, 1982 began in a bedroom of one end of the building, and quickly spread through the rafter area, eventually consuming the upper two floors. Miraculously, no one was seriously injured. Damage to the remaining interior of the building closed the hotel for the next 17 years until it was fully restored with complete and modern fire protection and re-opened in 1999.
Prints of the painting are available for purchase, in sizes 20"x20", 30"x30", and 40"x40" ranging in price from $105 to $500, depending on the choice of size and paper quality, (Canvas, Water Color paper and Photo Gloss).
Prints can be ordered through the Manitou Springs Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Jenny Walters, Secretary, 606 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO 80829.
