Welcome
Greetings:
My Name is Steve Schopper and I am the Foreman of the Manitou
Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Our Department has two
facets to it. One is the business end (firefighting, EMS,
rescue, etc) the other is the social end i.e. fund raising,
community involvement, department donations etc. Both sides
of the department are of tremendous impact to our community.
As
Foreman of the department, my job is to conduct the monthly
business meetings for the membership. Any community involvement
is funneled through me and I in turn communicate those interests
to the department. Matters that affect our department's assets
either positive or negative are all issues I deal with. I
am in charge of making sure that our annual fundraisers, fourth
of July fireworks, Christmas basket program, and Santa's arrival
at our town clock are adequately staffed and funded.
All members of the M.S.V.F.D. are expected to participate
in our department sponsored community programs. All of our
members are also expected to pay a $20.00 annual due to the
department. While we are one of the very few volunteer department
that charges dues, I think it speaks very highly about the
caliber of wonderful people who make up our membership. Any
volunteer firefighter in our department truly loves living
in Manitou Springs and is willing to sacrifice not only time
and talent but also income to be an elite member of our historic
organization. |
