Communications Center

The Manitou Springs Communications Center is responsible for dispatching Manitou Springs Police/Fire/Medical and Cascade/Green Mountain Falls Fire/Medical calls. Calls are received via Enhanced 911 phone lines, PD admin phone lines, or directly from people who walk into the PD lobby to report an incident.

We've been told that in the distant past, the dispatcher would run outside with a chalkboard to advise police and/or fire personnel details of the call as they drove by. These days, info is communicated by a radio and paging system.

ANY EMERGENCY CALL should come in via 911. ONLY emergency calls should come in via 911. Non emergency calls can come into the PD at 685-5407.

BEARS become a common problem in the Summer months in Manitou. These calls can be minimized by keeping trash contained and only put out on trash days. If you do see a bear, keep your pets and children inside and don't approach it. Police will respond on bear calls if there aren't other calls pending.

Regional CAD system is now operational in Manitou Springs! This is a highly technical system that will allow Dispatch to input info rec'd over the phone directly into dispatch mode. It will provide online reporting capabilities as well as online dispatch to ambulance service.
